Rich in History and Beauty
Manyatta Estate is rich in history. The development, once part of the original Usa River Coffee Estate, is today being carefully developed by Leon and Aideen Christianakis.
Leon’s grandfather bought this land in 1918 when he arrived in Africa from Greece in search of a new life and adventure. Land that was wild and teeming with game was cleared and coffee was planted. Leon was raised on the farm; he represents the third generation of his family to live and work here.
The Coffee Estate
In 2007 Leon and Aideen bought a second coffee estate in the highlands of Ngorongoro Crater which produces the superior quality coffee that high altitudes yield and global markets demand. At the same time they decided they would maximise the warmer, lower country in Usa River by replacing the coffee with avocadoes.
Today, driving into Manyatta, you'll pass through dense, green avocado orchards. World markets and tastes may have changed - the third generation of this family recognise that - but the affection they bear for the place, is the same affection and passion that Leon' grandfather bore, remains the same.
Testimonials
I have lived in Usa River for 5 years now and there is a wonderful sense of community amongst the people living here. Whilst I live across the Usa River on a neighbouring estate, I have watched with excitement as Manyatta has developed and how this has further added something special to our community.
